Essay on Culture of India

When comparing the culture of India to today’s American culture, there seems to be a great deal of differences, but a few similarities seem to show through as well. Both countries are highly populated, but the varying cultures between the two carry a great affect on the social status of the country overall. Seeing the prominent differences will give a clear view of what causes problems for the Indian culture.

India, the second most populated, is a very culturally diverse country. There are the Aryans in the northern part, and the Dravidians in the southern part. Numerous types and variations of languages are spoken their country, including Hindi, which is mainly spoken in the north, and another major language being English. Their constitution recognizes a list of fifteen regional languages spoken throughout the country.

The Indian economy is divided into two separate countries, the first mentioned being village India. Village residents get most of their economic aid from farming and agriculture. Their main crops of productions are rice, wheat, pulses, sugarcane, and corn. Cotton, tobacco, oilseeds, and jutes are the main non food crops. Sadly, in this part of the country, tens of millions of Indians live below the poverty level. The second type of Indian country economy, Urban India, is mostly consists of industrialization. (more…)

Essay on War

‘Is Iraq war justified’ is the one of the hot promulgation widely discussed among the literate. This is the war, which was initiated by U.S.A and it’s allies without the consent of the United Nation. The sources on which they had tried to justify this war were lately denounced. Emphasize to protect the world peace is quite genuine, however is it bipedal enough to put the life of several Iraqis to stake just for one man and destroy it’s peace. The issue has already been raised ‘Is the Iraq war justified’. This is such an argumentative issue that can hold several debates. There are people who justify this war on the fact that it was to end the prolonging and repressive dictatorship of Saddam and to protect the world from the nuke devastation. To me these reasons do not sound authentic enough to put the life of multifold Iraqis in to danger. In the view of this research, Iraq war is not justified because no discovery of nuclear weapons took place as predicted, no consent of the U.N.O was taken for it’s initiation and the war aftermath are very chaotic and agonizing.

Iraq is considered as one the richest oil producing countries of the world. It has been famous for Saddam Hussein’s (a former leader) brutal and cruel rule. Saddam had practiced several years of aggressive and barbaric dictatorship on his regime. He was as well counted as one of the active a participant in making nuclear weapons of mass destruction.

There was a continuous terror to the world, of his engagement in such a devastating act and posed threat to the existing human race.

Essay on Terrorism

Before the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, most Americans thought little about counter-terrorism. Yet since the attacks, we as a nation have been on the verge of being obsessed with defeating terrorism. Under the leadership of President Bush, our government set out to actively eliminate terrorist groups. Any country harboring or aiding terrorism is a potential target. Currently, United States troops are deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq to fulfill this policy. These combat units are the tip of a spear, and in a sense, our first line of defense against terrorism. They are an integral part of our counter-terrorism efforts and are the most visible element. However, counter-terrorism is a team effort, and the team is very diverse. There are hundreds of civil, federal, and military organizations working together to combat terrorism. It is the purpose of this report to shed light upon these organizations and allow the reader to better understand the immense task at hand in countering terrorism and how these organizations are achieving that goal.

An old military adage states that to defeat your enemy, you must first understand him. This can be applied to the war on terrorism, but understanding terrorism is much more complicated than expected. For instance, there is no single definition of terrorism accepted by the international community. The United Nations cannot agree on a definition and accepts that it cannot do so. The complex nature of terrorism can be blamed for this. In fact, the labeling of an individual as a terrorist can depend on the observer. The Basque separatists in northern Spain are fighting to keep their culture intact and in some extreme cases, to create a sovereign Basque state. They occasionally use car bombs, kidnappings, and assassinations to try to break away from the Spanish government. To the Basques, this is a just fight for freedom, but to the Spanish government and people, this is a terrorist organization that poses an immediate threat. So essentially the definition of terrorism lies in the “eye of the beholder”. Despite the difficulty in defining terrorism, there are elements of terrorism that are agreed upon. (more…)

Romeo and Juliet Essay

Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare is a story of two ‘star crossed lovers’ who play out their love affair against a background of feuding and poisoned family relationships. In this essay I will be directing Act 1 scene 5. This scene is very important, as it sets where Romeo and Juliet meet, fall in love and realise each other’s identities and also it is pivotal to the play. When directing this play, acting, costumes, set lighting, and sounds needs to be considered.

When the party begins the use of costumes is very vital as it signifies their importance in the play. As it is a fancy dress party I think Juliet should be dressed up like a ballerina because it will emphasise that she is pure, holy and loving. Romeo should be hidden in armour because his costume will convey that he is brave and wanting to do whatever he thinks. I have suggested him to be brave as he would do anything in life to suit him but he will always protect himself. Mercutio will dress up the president of the states, as it will make him powerful and imaginative. Tybalt will be dressed as a devil. I will dress Capulet as an Indian emperor as he is the host of the party. The nurse is dressed up as nun to represent her innocence and kindness. For the servants they would be dressed up as butlers. For my characters I’ve chosen modern costumes so more young people could appreciate Romeo and Juliet, as it is closer to their generation. I will now make use of diagram to show the costume design. Frankenstein Essay

In Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, Mary Shelley brings up topics that are still an issue today. Even though the novel Frankenstein is over a hundred years old, there are still lessons that can be learned from the novel. Some of the issues that are brought up in the novel are the importance of family, disliking a person because they are different, and accountability for ones actions.

Society has always judged people on their physical appearance. If a person is something out of the ordinary then that person is automatically thought of as being weird. Society now, although more lenient than in Mary Shelley’s day, does not do well with things that are “different”. For example, in Mary Shelley’s time a guy having an earring or a women working were something’s that certain people did not do. While society as a whole has gotten more lenient there is always a set of standards that are considered “normal”. Sometimes society does not give a person time to prove him/herself before judging them. All to often in society a person gets judged by the way he/she talks, the clothing he/she wears or in what part of the city a person lives in. These are just a few examples. (more…)

Lord of the Flies Essay

Throughout the novel Lord of the Flies, various views and motifs are portrayed. Of these views and motifs, the main message which is illustrated is one that questions society. It is clear from the very beginning that is a message conveyed in this novel. On the whole, Golding is portraying a good versus evil which are represented by Jack and Ralph. In Lord of the Flies a variety of ideas can be extracted on what the message Golding is trying to show. Golding wrote this novel in order to show the basic contrast of good and evil in society and how things can get out of hand if your primal urges are left uncontrolled.

Firstly I will explore the idea of good versus evil throughout the novel and in which characters they reside, secondly I will explore the main characters in depth and the role they play in the book, and my to my thesis. Thirdly I will examine the props used in the novel such as the conch, beast etc. and the importance they have, Fourthly I will explore the idea of the loss of order and how it goes downhill from the very start, and lastly I will explore how the idea of Super Ego and Id are displayed throughout the book and characters.
